19, 2010, 9:19 am
The 21st annual Earth Fest will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at MacArthur Elementary School on Binghamton’s South Side. Last year’s Fest drew more than 2,000 people.
The event will feature children’s activities, roving magicians, food, live electric music outside and acoustic music inside as well as more than 50 earth-friendly exhibitors of local businesses and organizations. The event also will feature the River Trails Bike Cruise, which will leave the school at 10:30 am and meander to Otsiningo Park and back to promote Binghamton as a bike-friendly city. Admission is $1 or a CHOW donation.
Sponsor Gary’s U-Pull It will have an 8-by-22-foot container on site for metals to recycle, such as washers, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, air conditioners, lawnmowers, snow blowers, cast iron radiators and batteries. There will be free seedlings and seed packets as well as reusable tote bags given to those who visit sponsors. Vendors and exhibitors will also have samples and other giveaways.— Jennifer Micale
