Facebook: Reentry Concert

The Broome County Council of Churches Knock 'M Down for Ramp It Up bowling tournament. Four to a team, $20 per person. Lane sponsorships are $100 each and $50 for each additional lane. Major sponsorship is $500. Join the fun on Saturday, October 23, Noon to 4:00 pm.

Broome County Council of Churches Faith in Action Volunteers Program Ramp It Up program began on June 5 & 6 with the Home Education Team. Ramp building went well and the homeowners are very happy. Next weekend Church of the Holy Family will build a ramp. Join in with Knock 'M Down for Ramp It Up, our fun-raising bowling tournament on Saturday, Oct 23, Noon to 4:00. Four to a team, $20 per person. Lane sponsorships start at $100.

Flash Mob for CHOW



Grace Adventure We will draw a crowd of hopefully 200+ people, each person bringing a donation for CHOW (local food pantry). We will practice a little "number" for about an hour and then perform it at our designated place. We can't WAIT to do this!!!!! Its going to be AWESOME! Bring ALL of your friends...for a good cause AND to have fun!!

WBNG Facebook Post: CHOW Farm

WBNG-TV Action News May 8th, residents in Broome, Chenango, and Tioga Counties will seecrews in their community gardens. Current Rural Health Service Corps members will provide a day of local service Growing Community project. Members will be working in the following gardens: CHOW Farm; Binghamton Urban Farm Project; Liberty St Community Garden; Apalachin Elementary School Garden; Owego Community Garden; and Oxford Community Garden.

WBNG-TV Action News On Saturday May 8 letter carriers all over this country will be collecting non-perishable food donations along their routes for deposit to CHOW , and other local food banks. This is the 18th annual " Stamp Out Hunger " drive conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Dorothy also co–officiated a number of the 11 communion services in the jail with Chaplain Cris this week

Broome County Council of Churches Jail Ministry Program Data has been crunched by one of our volunteers and our MSW intern for our new Reentry Project. The numbers look promising; just over 200 people have sought our services to date, which is just over 3 new intakes a week.

Broome County Council of Churches Jail Ministry Program Due to facility scheduling problems on Tuesday our Protestant chaplain and Roman Catholic chaplain combined efforts for a joint service in the therapeutic Housing Unit. It was a wonderful service and certainly worth repeating!

Broome County Council of Churches Jail Ministry Program We host a Family Literacy Program where inmates read books to their children and a CD and book are mailed to the child to keep and to listen to over and over! The program teaches more than reading skills, it helps in parenting, ESL, communications and in reconnecting families We are looking for more volunteers. No experience needed! Here is a link to a story on NPR about a program like ours.

The Broome County Council of Churches Middle school band to aid food bank - Band members from sixth through eighth grade are holding a food drive contest to deliver goods for the Southern Tier Food Bank's backpack program. The program provides food for underprivileged students who may go hungry outside of school. The food drive will run from the February 9 to the 23.

The Broome County Council of Churches Lincoln birthday party planned St. Andrew’s Anglican Church will hold a birthday party for President and First Lady Lincoln at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at 1013 Front St. in Vestal. The program is free, but contributions will be accepted for Civil War Preservation Trust and the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse.
