Hunger Walk brings in $55K

The 28th annual Chow Hunger Walk raised a total of $55,674, including $10,500 in event sponsorships, last Sunday on the Binghamton University campus.Walkers also collected 1,620 pounds of food for the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse. Nearly 1,000 people participated in the walk, one of the major fundraisers for CHOW.
Top groups included Our Lady of Sorrows Church’s middle school youth group, which raised $8,747 with about 300 walkers; Tabernacle United Methodist Church, which raised $2,664; St. Francis of Assist Church, which raised $2,015; Church of the Holy Family, which raised $1,248; Endwell United Methodist Church, which raised $1,004; and Vestal United Methodist Church, which raised $1,000.
All funds are used to build up winter food inventories for CHOW, which feeds about 3,000 people each month.
